Do you ever see a recipe video online and think "I HAVE to make that immediately!" I'm not usually one that makes viral TikTok recipes (although I did make TikTok Baked Oatmeal!), when I saw a video of TikTok Cinnamon Rolls (on Instagram because that's how it works if you're over 30 years old), I immediately bought the ingredients to make them.
This recipe takes two cans of Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls and transforms them into the fluffiest and most delicious cinnamon rolls that you will ever make with canned cinnamon rolls with one viral hack!

Why You'll Love this Recipe
- EASY - this easy cinnamon roll recipe only uses four separate ingredients! Heavy cream, butter, and brown sugar are the secret ingredients that are added to cans of cinnamon rolls. My Crescent Roll Cinnamon Rolls are another super easy cinnamon roll recipe.
- Saucy - the heavy cream and butter/brown sugar mixture create a super yummy sauce on the bottom of the rolls that is incredible drizzled on top.
- Customizable - this recipe is so easy to add extra cinnamon, some chopped nuts, caramel, vanilla, etc. to make them exactly how you want!
- Make-ahead friendly - Just like my Brioche French Toast Casserole, you can make this TikTok Cinnamon Roll recipe ahead of time.
Key Ingredients

- Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls - I've only made these with the Grands. I highly recommending only using Grands Cinnamon Rolls, but if you can't find them, I think other brands would still work. They probably won't be quite as big, but still fluffy and delicious! I also use canned cinnamon rolls in my Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread!
- Heavy Whipping Cream - one cup of heavy cream goes on the bottom of the baking dish and gets soaked up by the cinnamon rolls. This makes them completely melt in your mouth! I use the same concept in my Pumpkin Spice TikTok Cinnamon Rolls.
- Unsalted Butter - this recipe uses one stick of unsalted butter that is melted with brown sugar and poured on top of the cinnamon rolls.
- Frosting - top the cinnamon rolls with the given cream cheese frosting or whatever icing that comes with the Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. You could also use the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes Frosting recipe for a homemade frosting.
See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Substitutions and Variations
- Nuts - you can definitely add some chopped walnuts or pecans! Add them to the brown butter/sugar mixture. Oatmeal Breakfast Cookies are another delicious healthy breakfast option with nuts.
- Vanilla Extract - add some vanilla extract to the brown sugar mixture for an added vanilla flavor.
- Cinnamon - add a teaspoon of cinnamon to the butter/sugar mixture for extra cinnamon flavor. Or if you're in the mood for pancakes, try Cinnamon Roll Pancakes.
How to Make TikTok Cinnamon Rolls

Photo 1. Pour the heavy cream on the bottom of a greased 9x13" baking pan.
Photo 2. Place the raw cinnamon rolls on top of the heavy cream.

Photo 3. Next, melt together the butter and brown sugar in a pan on the stove. Once they are melted, add 3 tablespoon of heavy cream and whisk well to combine.
Photo 4. Pour this mixture over the top of the rolls.

Photo 5. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes. The top should be golden brown and the liquid should be mostly absorbed. There will likely still be some liquid on the bottom once you start plating them, but this is pure GOLD. Be sure to drizzle it over the cinnamon rolls!
Photo 6. Frost the gooey cinnamon rolls with the provided frosting or cream cheese icing and don't forget the liquid from the pan, too. ENJOY!
Expert Tips
Storage - store any leftover TikTok cinnamon rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator. We just reheat in the microwave.
Heavy cream is the hero - this hack works because the heavy cream bath soaks into the dough while baking, making the rolls extra tender, rich, and melt-in-your-mouth. Don't swap for milk - lower-fat liquids can make them soggy not fluffy.
Caramelize that sauce - when melting butter + brown sugar, let it bubble gently until glossy - this creates a deeper caramel flavor that becomes the sauce underneath and over the rolls.
Spoon the pan liquid back on - after baking, there will be a decadent sauce leftover - don't pour it out! Spoon it over your rolls before icing so every bite is extra gooey.
Bigger = better - use Pillsbury Grands! rolls if possible - their large size soaks up more cream and sugar sauce, making them closer to a bakery vibe.

TikTok Cinnamon Rolls Recipe FAQs
I really recommend using Pillsbury Grands cinnamon rolls as they are bigger and work so perfectly with this recipe. If you can't find Grands cinnamon rolls, regular canned cinnamon rolls will work (I've tried it!), too. Trader Joe's and Annie's Organic also have large cinnamon rolls that work well.
Yes! The heavy cream is a key step because the cinnamon rolls soak it up and it makes them super tender and delicious. They will literally melt in your mouth. I would not recommend substituting milk, as it is not high enough in fat content and will likely just make the cinnamon rolls soggy.
Yes, definitely. Simply double everything and use two baking dishes.
They are pretty darn close! These doctored up store-bought cinnamon rolls really do taste just about as close as you can get to Cinnabon cinnamon rolls after baking in heavy cream, butter, and brown sugar!
These are delicious with some savory breakfast items such as Jalapeño Bacon and Chorizo Potato Breakfast Burritos!
This fluffy cinnamon roll recipe from TikTok is truly a must make. They taste like homemade cinnamon rolls and require minimal effort. I don't think I'll ever made cinnamon rolls any other way!

TikTok Cinnamon Rolls with Heavy Cream
Ingredients
- 2 cans Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls
- 1 cup plus 3 tablespoon heavy whipping cream
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Spray a 9x13" baking dish with cooking spray.
- Pour the whipping cream on the bottom of the dish and then place the cinnamon rolls on top of the cream.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar.
- Once melted, stir in the additional 3 tablespoon of heavy cream and stir until smooth.
- Pour this mixture over the cinnamon rolls.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. The tops should be golden and most of the liquid should be soaked up. If all of the liquid isn't soaked up, that's normal - just spoon it over the cinnamon rolls after you serve them - it's SO good!
- Use the frosting provided in the cinnamon rolls to frost the cinnamon rolls.
- Serve and drizzle with additional liquid from the pan. Enjoy!
Notes
- Pillsbury Grand's Cinnamon Rolls are the absolute best option for this recipe. I have made these with non-Grand's cinnamon rolls and it does work, but they are not quite as good.
- Serve leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Be sure to save the liquid from the bottom of the pan, too.
- To reheat leftovers, microwave on 50% power for 60-90 seconds, checking halfway through.

I made these with the regular Pillsbury Cinnamon rolls. I added cinnamon to the butter and brown sugar. I also sliced and diced a honeycrisp apple and added them to the top of the rolls and in between. They came out great! I also added a couple of tablespoons of cream cheese to the frosting and a touch of heavy cream and drizzled of the tops. Served them with crisp bacon on the side. Salty and sweet! They were a hit! Will definitely make these again!

No left overs here! Delicious..I used the Pillsbury caramel rolls the 2nd time I made them. Will be adding some vanilla and pecans to the butter/brown sugar mix next time! Thanks for the great recipe and to the reviewers for the great ideas!
Very very good! Makes the store bought canned cinnamon rolls taste homemade!! Delicious! Everyone in my household LOVES it when I make these! Plus, they are quick and easy to do!! 💜💜
can this recipe be used in a crock pot?
Delicious! Simple to make, and that's a great thing because my family devours them as soon as they have cooled just enough to touch and eat. This is my go-to cinnamon roll recipe now. Unless you tell people you share these with, after tasting, they always first think you have made them from scratch.
We have made this recipe several times and everyone loves it. I tend to forget to buy the grands and have made it with the regular ones still good just not as big and fluffy
I have a homemade cinnamon roll recipe I used to make fairly often. It has been unused since I found this method. My personal favorite is the Annie's cinnamon rolls with this method.
Love this hack. I add a little vanilla to butter and brown sugar. Great Christmas morning treat.
OMG. I've been trying to make cinnamon rolls for over 25 years. Unfortunately, they always fall somewhat short - tasting a little bitter and "grainy."
So, when I saw that this recipe called for heavy whipping cream to be poured over the rolls just before baking, I decided to try it. And, WOW, these rolls are fabulous. I baked two batches for Easter brunch, and I can honestly same the rolls were a bigger hit than the ham and au gratin potatoes.
This recipe is now my permanent go-to. Absolutely wonderful.
These are so amazing and so yummy!!! I cut the recipe in half and baked them in a 9x9 glass dish and baked them for exactly 25 minutes. Wish I could share a picture of mine! lol thank you so much for this recipe!!!
Awesome thanks 😊
These cinnamon rolls were delicious! My husband thought they were great and better than Cinnabon rolls! That’s a great complement! Easy to make and didn’t take a lot to make!
OMGosh delicious
I do not like canned cinnamon rolls—AND these TiKTok rolls are probably the best thing I’ve ever eaten. The butter/brown sugar/whipping cream mixture makes this recipe a 5 star review. Amazing.
These were a smash hit. I used 1/4 cup of butter instead of a 1/2 cup and the same 1 cup of brown sugar and it worked great. My family loved these doctored rolls. Thank you for a great recipe. Definitely going in my favorite pile!
Delicious! I’ve tried a lot of other viral cinnamon roll recipes, and they always turn out soggy. This one was a hit—absolutely perfect, beautiful golden color, absolutely delicious!
Love this. I add candy pecans to the brown sugar and butter. Turned out great.
I make these all the time with regular Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. Always a hit!! Thanks for sharing.
Can these be prepped the night before & just pop them in the oven in the morning?
Yes! 🙂
Can I prep the night before and bake in the morning ?
