Do you ever see a recipe video online and think "I HAVE to make that immediately!" I'm not usually one that makes viral TikTok recipes (although I did make TikTok Baked Oatmeal!), when I saw a video of TikTok Cinnamon Rolls (on Instagram because that's how it works if you're over 30 years old), I immediately bought the ingredients to make them.

What's the secret to this TikTok cinnamon rolls recipe? First, you add heavy cream to the bottom of the pan. The cream adds a tenderness to the rolls as they soak it up as they bake. The other key is a mixture of butter, brown sugar, and a bit of cream that you pour over the raw rolls.

This TikTok Cinnamon Roll recipe creates a delicious topping on the rolls and also creates a sauce that you can drizzle over the baked rolls. YUM!

Why You'll Love this Recipe

  • EASY - this recipe only uses four separate ingredients! Heavy cream, butter, and brown sugar are the secret ingredients that are added to cans of cinnamon rolls.
  • Saucy - the heavy cream and butter/brown sugar mixture create a super yummy sauce on the bottom of the rolls that is incredible drizzled on top.

Ingredients

Ingredients in TikTok Cinnamon Rolls, including Grands cinnamon rolls, heavy cream, butter, and brown sugar.
  • Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls - I've only made these with the Grands. I highly recommending only using Grands Cinnamon Rolls, but if you can't find them, I think other brands would still work. They probably won't be quite as big, but still fluffy and delicious!
  • Heavy Whipping Cream - one cup of heavy cream goes on the bottom of the baking dish and gets soaked up by the cinnamon rolls. This makes them completely melt in your mouth!
  • Butter - this recipe uses one stick of butter that is melted with brown sugar and poured on top of ht rolls.
  • Brown Sugar - one cup of brown sugar is used in this recipe.
  • Frosting - top the cinnamon rolls with the given cream cheese frosting or whatever icing that comes with the Pillsbury cinnamon rolls.

See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

Variations

  • Nuts - you can definitely add some chopped walnuts or pecans! Add them to the brown butter/sugar mixture. Oatmeal Breakfast Cookies are a delicious healthy breakfast option with nuts.
  • Vanilla Extract - add some vanilla extract to the brown sugar mixture for an added vanilla flavor.
  • Cinnamon - add a teaspoon of cinnamon to the butter/sugar mixture for extra cinnamon flavor. Or if you're in the mood for pancakes, try Cinnamon Roll Pancakes.

5. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes. The top should be golden brown and the liquid should be mostly absorbed. There will likely still be some liquid on the bottom once you start plating them, but this is pure GOLD. Be sure to drizzle it over the cinnamon rolls!

Recipe FAQs

Can I use other types of cinnamon rolls instead of Grands?

I really recommend using Pillsbury Grands cinnamon rolls as they are bigger and work so perfectly with this recipe. If you can't find Grands cinnamon rolls, regular canned cinnamon rolls will work (I've tried it!), too. Trader Joe's and Annie's Organic also have large cinnamon rolls that work well.

Do I have to use heavy cream?

Yes! The heavy cream is a key step because the cinnamon rolls soak it up and it makes them super tender and delicious. They will literally melt in your mouth. I would not recommend substituting milk, as it is not high enough in fat content and will likely just make the cinnamon rolls soggy.

Can this cinnamon roll recipe be doubled?

Yes, definitely. Simply double everything and use two baking dishes.

Do these taste like Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls?

They are pretty darn close! These doctored up store-bought cinnamon rolls really do taste just about as close as you can get to Cinnabon cinnamon rolls after baking in heavy cream, butter, and brown sugar!

What should I serve these with?

These are delicious with some savory breakfast items such as Jalapeño Bacon and scrambled eggs!

This fluffy cinnamon roll recipe from TikTok is truly a must make. They taste like homemade cinnamon rolls and require minimal effort. I don't think I'll ever made cinnamon rolls any other way!

Ingredients

  • 2 cans Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls
  • 1 cup plus 3 tablespoon heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Spray a 9x13" baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Place the cinnamon rolls in the baking dish and then pour the whipping cream around them.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar.
  • Once melted, stir in the additional 3 tablespoon of heavy cream and stir until smooth.
  • Pour this mixture over the cinnamon rolls.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. The tops should be golden and most of the liquid should be soaked up. If all of the liquid isn't soaked up, that's normal - just spoon it over the cinnamon rolls after you serve them - it's SO good!
  • Use the frosting provided in the cinnamon rolls to frost the cinnamon rolls.
  • Serve and drizzle with additional liquid from the pan. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Pillsbury Grand's Cinnamon Rolls are the absolute best option for this recipe. I have made these with non-Grand's cinnamon rolls and it does work, but they are not quite as good.
  • Serve leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Be sure to save the liquid from the bottom of the pan, too.
  • To reheat leftovers, microwave on 50% power for 60-90 seconds, checking halfway through.

Have no idea why but I've been craving cinnamon rolls lately. I've tried several recipes and store bought but nothing was really satisfying until now. I was going to serve them for guest last week end but she walked in with her homemade cinnamon rolls. I was so disappointed because I was looking forward to making your recipe. I made a half recipe the first day after they left. They so missed out. I will never have to try another cinnamon roll recipe. Absolutely the best I've ever had. Now I get to make yours twice since I only used one can. No comment on her cinnalmon rolls.

I made this yesterday for our tailgate. Oh My God, this was delicious!!! I put it all together the night before and baked it in the morning. I added a tsp of vanilla to the butter and brown sugar mixture. It was so easy to put together and everyone LOVED it! As great as the rolls were, the brown sugar with the cream made it even better. I had to warn everyone I needed one piece for my husband and that is all that was left after everyone took some home. My niece said this recipe is Beyond!! Will definitely be making this again.

  3. If I make these cinnamon rolls the day before, can I reheat them in the oven in the same pan? Should I wait to top with the frosting until I serve them?

    1. I have never done that method before but I did have a reader tell me that she prepped the rolls the night before, covered and refrigerated, and then baked them according to the directions in the morning. If you do bake them and then reheat, I would wait until you reheat to top with frosting. Hope this helps!

  4. I had to hold myself back from eating my second fluffy cinnamon roll. Easy to prepare and ready to eat almost as soon as they come out of the oven. I had some of the cream mixture in the bottom of the pan I took a spoon and poured it over the bun yum, yum. Om h, by the way I did have a second one before I covered them and put them in refrigerator.

    1. I think you can do the same method and ingredients, just more cinnamon rolls to fill the pan? Then probably reduce the baking time by about 5-7 minutes. Let me know if you try it!

We have made these 3 times so far. The recipe is definitely a keeper. I have used the smaller cinnamon rolls and the grands. My daughter made them just like the recipe says and I made them adding vanilla extract and pecans. Delicious either way

Wow, amazing, and so fast to prepare. The worst part is waiting for them to cool enough to eat. I too used just 1 can of grands then halved the ingredients. Worked perfectly. No need to worry about storage! They won't last that long.

  7. Yummy! Used about 1/3 of recommended amounts for 1 can of 5 Grands in 8x8. Toaster oven @350 for 23 minutes. Toaster ovens cook more quickly and it was glass dish. Did butter and sugar in microwave and checked/stirred often. Had to really talk myself out of eating more than 2 and let stomach catch up with brain(or is it vice versa!?) Looking forward to more tomorrow. Thank you!

  8. These were AMAZING and so easy. I have made them every time the kids come home - they request it! I love good easy recipes. Can you make these ahead of time and bake the next day? Have you tried to freeze them? Definitely one of my favorite recipes.
