Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers

Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers are the only turkey burger recipe you'll ever need! This easy mixture of ground turkey, chopped spinach, feta cheese, bread crumbs, and spices are grilled to perfection and so full of flavor.

Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers

Grilling season means we'll be making burgers at LEAST once a week at our house. You really can't go wrong with a classic beef burgers, but I always like to switch things up every now and then. I love a good turkey burger, but have trouble sometimes with them sticking to the grill. Luckily I've found the key to a solid turkey burger and these Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers come out perfectly every time!

These turkey burgers are full of SO many good things. Simple things, but amazing flavors. For one, there's the spinach and feta cheese, obviously. I chopped up baby spinach super finely to add some bulk and some greens to the turkey burgers. They also help give the burgers extra moisture. The addition of feta cheese adds a bit of tanginess that is so, so good.

Breadcrumbs help the turkey burgers bind together and the soy sauce and herbs give them flavor. These are seriously the best turkey burgers and we make them all of the time in the summer for an easy dinner.

Ingredients in Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers

These Greek inspired turkey burgers have basic ingredients that can be found at most grocery stores. Be sure to check out the recipe card for the ingredient list with exact amounts.

  • Ground Turkey - I like using 93/7 lean ground turkey meat, as the little bit of fat lends a ton of flavor and moistness to the turkey burger patties.
  • Bread Crumbs
  • Fresh Baby Spinach
  • Feta Cheese - you can buy crumbled feta cheese or a block of feta cheese and chop/crumble it yourself.
  • Soy Sauce
  • Italian Herbs - dried Italian herb seasoning adds some flavor to these delicious flavorful turkey burgers.
  • Salt
  • Hamburger Buns and your favorite burger toppings - I added extra fresh spinach leaves and sliced tomatoes. Other delicious options are cucumber slices, tzatziki sauce, hummus, red onion, and olives.

How to Make Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers

These turkey burgers with spinach and feta are super simple to put together. The key to making turkey burgers that don't stick to the grill is to refrigerate them for at least 20 minutes, so be sure to give yourself enough time for the refrigerating time! Or even better - prep them in the morning or a few hours in advance to make dinnertime even smoother.

Make the turkey mixture. In a large bowl, mix together the ground turkey, chopped spinach, breadcrumbs, feta crumbles, soy sauce, herbs and salt until it is all well combined. Form the mixture into four large or five medium patties. Place the raw patties on a plate and then cover with plastic wrap or in an airtight container, and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes. You can do this hours in advance if you want!

Prep the grill. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and grease it.

Cook the turkey burgers. Add the burgers to the hot grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side. I like to press the burgers down with the back of a spatula to flatten them out. Use an instant read thermometer or meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature is at least 160 degrees F for perfectly juicy turkey burgers!

Serve. Once they are cooked through, serve them on a bun with your favorite burger toppings! I love using a brioche bun and topping them with tzatziki, tomatoes, and fresh spinach. A whole wheat bun or regular hamburger bun works well, too.

How to Serve Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers

You can serve these Greek turkey burgers like you would serve any of your other favorite burgers. We like them on a bun but you could also put them in a sandwich, wrap, on top of greens, or in a pita! They are also delicious with basil mayo on top!

As sides, we did my summer caprese corn salad and some sweet potato fries. Other great options would be a pasta salad, macaroni salad, potato salad, grilled veggies, Greek fries, or a green salad!

Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers Tips and Variations

Make ahead. The key to making turkey burgers that don't stick to the grill is to refrigerate them for at least 20 minutes, so be sure to give yourself enough time for the refrigerating time! Or even better - prep them in the morning or a few hours in advance to make dinnertime even smoother.

Add some garlic. Fresh. minced garlic cloves would be a delicious addition to these turkey burgers.

Watch the grill closely. You don't want dry turkey burgers, so make sure you use a meat thermometer to ensure they don't become overcooked.

Add fresh herbs. If you have fresh herbs, on hand, thrown in a tablespoon or two! Fresh parsley, fresh basil, or fresh dill would both work well!

Cook on the stove. If it's not grilling season or you don't have an outdoor grill, you can definitely cook these in a heavy skillet, cast iron skillet on the stove, or indoor electric grill. Simply preheat over medium-high heat, grease with olive oil, and cook the turkey patties for 4-5 minutes on each side.
