Our family uses our air fryer (we just upgraded to this air fryer!) more than any other appliance in our house. It is so handy for making tater tots and chicken nuggets, but I also love it for cooking air fryer salmon, sweet and spicy brussels sprouts, and air fryer donut holes! We love making turkey burgers on the grill during the summer, but I always get a craving for burgers during the winter, too! My solution? Air Fryer Turkey Burgers!
Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Juicy and Healthy - turkey burgers are juicier than a chicken burger and leaner than beef burgers.
- Simple Ingredients - this recipe is simple and easy-to-find ingredients that you probably mostly have on hand!
- Great for Meal Prep - make a double batch of these burgers to enjoy all week long for lunch or easy dinners.
Key Ingredients
This turkey burger uses super simple ingredients that are very easy to find.
Ground Turkey - I use 93/7 lean ground turkey, as the higher fat content compared to 99/1 ground turkey will keep the burgers moist and flavorful.
Breadcrumbs - breadcrumbs are essential in turkey burgers as the low fat content needs them to help bind the burgers together.
Worcestershire sauce - this is a must-have ingredient for a flavorful burger.

How to Make Turkey Burgers in the Air Fryer
This air fryer turkey burger recipe is really so so easy! Refer to the recipe card for the complete instructions.
Combine the turkey patty ingredients. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper.
Form into turkey patties. Divide the meat mixture into four equal sized balls and, using your hands, form into turkey patties. A burger press/patty maker is also great for this!
Grease the air fryer. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. You can also use parchment paper to line the bottom of the air fryer basket to keep the burgers from sticking.
Cook the turkey burgers. Set the turkey burger patties in the bottom of the basket in a single layer, and cook at 350 degrees F for 8 minutes, flip, and then cook another 7-10 minutes. The cook time depends on how large you make your burgers, but if you make each one 4 ounces, as suggested in the recipe, 15--18 minutes will be enough. To be sure your burgers are done, I recommend using a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the burgers is at least 160 degrees F.
Substitutions and Variations
Spice things up. If you want a little kick to your turkey burgers, you can add some diced jalapeño or ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes to the burger mixture.
Swap the meat. Looking for an air fryer beef burger recipe? You can definitely use ground beef instead for beef burgers. Ground chicken would also work.
Add some herbs. You can definitely add some fresh herbs such as parsley, thyme, or basil to these turkey burgers for some extra flavor. ½ teaspoon of dried Italian seasoning or Italian herbs would also work well.
Expert Tips
Toppings. You can get super creative with the toppings on these turkey burgers. Our favorite toppings are sliced red onion, sliced tomatoes, lettuce, cheddar cheese, ketchup, and mustard. Other ideas are caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, dijon mustard, brie cheese, Sriracha mayonnaise, BBQ sauce, feta cheese, blue cheese (like in my Blue Cheese Burgers), and pepper jack cheese.
Buns. Brioche buns are our favorite bun to use with these burgers, but you can really use whatever kind of bun you like! You could even skip the bun and serve these turkey burgers in a lettuce wrap or on salad greens for a low carb option.
Prep ahead. You can definitely make these burgers ahead of time! Simply make the burger mixture and form into patties, put them on a plate, and cover, storing them in a refrigerator until you're ready to cook. You might need to add 1-2 minutes to the cooking time since they will be starting from a colder temperature.
Storage. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
Add cheese. To add sliced cheese to these turkey burgers, place the slices of cheese on top of the burgers after they have cooked (but are still in the basket) and then close the air fryer and let the residual heat from the air fryer melt the cheese. This usually takes about 2 minutes.
Freezer option. You can definitely make these into a freezer meal! Simply prepare the burgers, cook according to instructions, and then place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Freeze for 1 hour to flash freeze and then transfer to a freezer-safe container to freeze completely. To cook, reheat in the microwave for 60-90 seconds or air fryer for 4-5 minutes.

To keep with the theme of an easy meal, I like to keep the side dishes easy, too!
