Summer Freezer Meals

Freezer meals can be such a lifesaver for busy weeknights! Every fall, my sister in law and I get together to make a bunch of freezer meals for the fall and winter ahead. Like most freezer meals, there are a lot of soups, casseroles, and comfort food that we make. But what about freezer meals for the summertime? Freezer meals that can be grilled? Well, I’ve taken a few months to develop and test eight new summer freezer meals for the grill!

All of these summer freezer meal recipes are super easy to whip up and also very easy to cook. I’ve included the link to all of the recipes, which include instructions on how to make it a freezer meal. It’s really so easy. But first, a couple of tips.

Tips for Summer Freeze Meals

First, you’ll want some freezer Ziploc bags. You can also use glass containers or Tupperware, if you prefer!

For freezing burgers, I recommend placing them on a plate or baking sheet and freezing them like that before stacking them up in a freezer bag. This makes it so they don’t freeze together. I also place a piece of parchment paper that I cut into a square a little bigger than the size of the burger between each burger.

Some vegetables freeze well and some don’t. Things like peppers and onions freeze well while vegetables like zucchini and tomatoes are best added after the meal has been thawed.

Be sure to thaw the meals overnight in the refrigerator before grilling them.

That’s it – let me know if you have any other questions in the comments below!

Grilled Lemon Garlic Chicken – this is my all-time favorite chicken marinade. It’s so simple but so full of flavor. It’s also really versatile and can be served with grilled veggies, on top of pasta, or on a salad! To make it a freezer meal, simply combine all of the marinade ingredients and the chicken in a freezer bag and freezer. Once you’re ready to use it, let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator and then grill as directed.

Grilled Korean Steak - Summer Freezer Meal

Korean Steak and Peppers – I absolutely love Korean beef! To make this recipe a freezer meal, simply combine the beef and peppers with the marinade in a freezer bag. Once you’re ready to use it, let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator and then grill as directed. I like serving this on top of rice.

Grilled Chili Lime Shrimp Kabobs – these shrimp kabobs are so full of flavor with minimal ingredients. They also cook really fast, which is one thing I just love about shrimp. To prep this grilling freezer meal, combine the shrimp with the marinade in a plastic bag. Note: don’t add the tomatoes. You’ll want to buy those once you are going to make the meal. Once you’re ready to make it, let the shrimp thaw overnight in the refrigerator and then grill as directed.

Honey Mustard Pork Tenderloin – pork tenderloin is one of my favorite cost-friendly meats to make and it’s so good on the grill. This recipe has a honey mustard marinade which you whip up and then add to a plastic freezer bag with the pork. Once you’re ready to use it, let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator and then grill as directed.

Southwestern Turkey Burgers – nothing says summer like a good burger, and these Southwestern Turkey Burgers are on repeat this summer at our house. To make these southwestern turkey burgers a freezer recipe, simply make them as instructed and then place them on a plate or baking sheet to freeze for about 1-2 hours. Once they are partially frozen, you can stack them in a freezer bag with pieces of parchment paper between the patties. Once you’re ready to use them, let the burgers thaw overnight in the refrigerator and then grill as directed.

Blue Cheese Burgers – I love a good beef burger and these blue cheese burgers are irresistible and a must-make for any blue cheese lover. To make them a freezer meal, simply make them as instructed and then place them on a plate or baking sheet to freeze for about 1-2 hours. Once they are partially frozen, you can stack them in a freezer bag with pieces of parchment paper between the patties. Once you’re ready to use them, let the burgers thaw overnight in the refrigerator and then grill as directed.

Grilled Hawaiian Sausage and Vegetables – one of my family’s favorites! We love using Andouille sausage in this for a little bit of sweet and spicy, but have used a variety of different sausages in this. The recipe is super versatile when it comes to the sausage and the veggies – use whatever you have on hand! For making this a freezer meal, I do recommend adding the vegetables like zucchini and green beans after you have frozen it, for best results.

Grilled Mediterranean Shrimp – full of so much flavor and so easy to make! Add grilled vegetables as a side and you’re on your way to a healthy summer dinner!
