Ninja Creami Cottage Cheese Ice Cream
An easy, high-protein recipe for Cottage Cheese Ice Cream made in the Ninja Creami!
Before you run away, thinking I've gone crazy putting cottage cheese in my ice cream, you just gotta trust me on this one. I've been putting cottage cheese in a LOT of things, like my Cottage Cheese Taco Dip, Cottage Cheese Blueberry Muffins, and Cottage Cheese Tuna Salad, and since I've been making a ton of ice cream with my Ninja Creami Ice Cream Maker, I figured I needed to combine these two obsessions.
I, too, was a little skeptical of how it would turn out but it did NOT disappoint! This cottage cheese ice cream is super creamy, not overly sweet, and so versatile with flavors to play around with! My favorite combo was vanilla pudding mix and these Peanut Brittle Crunch Coat bits (think DQ crunch cone!) mixed in. So, so good!!

Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Easy - this recipe could not be easier! Simply mix, freeze, and let the Ninja Creami do the work.
- Four Ingredients - made with only four simple ingredients that I always have on hand.
- High in Protein - one serving has only 97 calories and 8 grams of protein!
Ingredients
Cottage Cheese - cottage cheese is the secret ingredient that gives this cottage cheese ice cream a super creamy texture and packs it with protein.
Milk - I use 1% low-fat milk.
Vanilla Pudding Mix - this gives the ice cream its sweetness and hint of vanilla flavor.
Heavy Cream - just a couple of tablespoons to increase the creaminess factor.
Variations
Type of Milk - I use 1% milk, but you could use whole, 2%, and skim, with good results. I have not tried dairy-free milk, but I think it would work well.
Different Pudding Mix - with all of the different flavors of pudding mixes, you could make this into so many different variations! I think chocolate, lemon, cheesecake, and pistachio would all be delicious.
Mix-Ins - After running the ice cream cycle a couple of times, you could add some mix-ins like sprinkles, crushed Oreo cookies, chopped Reese's, chocolate chips, peanut butter, nuts, fresh fruit, whatever you'd like, and then run the Mix-In cycle of the Ninja Creami.
Add a Sweetener - while the vanilla pudding mix adds sweetness to the ice cream, you could add additional sweetener like 2-3 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup for a sweeter ice cream. Taste the mixture after initially blending to see if you want it sweeter.
Add Protein Powder - if you want to increase the protein in this ice cream even more, you can add a scoop of protein powder.
Step by Step Instructions
Photo 1. Add the cottage cheese and heavy cream to large food processor. Process until creamy. Add the milk and pudding mix, and blend until smooth. Add to Ninja Creami pint container and freeze for 24 hours.
Photo 2. Once frozen, insert the pint container into the Ninja Creami machine and run the ice cream cycle. It will likely look crumbly like in photo #2.
Photo 3. Add 2 tablespoons of milk and run the Re-Spin cycle once or twice more, until super creamy.
Photo 4. Scoop, top with desired toppings, and enjoy!
Expert Tips
Let it Freeze - don't cut the freeze time - it really does need 24 hours to freeze completely!
Storage - store leftovers in the Creami pint container, or any airtight container in the freezer.

Ninja Creami Cottage Cheese Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups cottage cheese
- ⅔ cup milk
- 2 tablespoon heavy cream
- 4 tablespoon instant vanilla pudding mix
Instructions
- Place the cottage cheese and heavy cream in a food processor and pulse to puree. You can also do this in a blender or in a bowl with an immersion blender.
- Add the milk and pudding mix and puree.
- Add this mixture to a Ninja Creami pint, cover with lid, and freeze for 24 hours.
- Once frozen, remove from the freezer and place into the Ninja Creami ice cream maker.
