Ninja Creami Lime Sherbet

Ninja Creami Lime Sherbet is a refreshing and delicious recipe for lime sherbet using the Ninja Cream ice cream maker! This homemade lime sherbet recipe is so easy to whip up, the perfect dessert for prepping ahead, and a huge crowd pleaser.

I got a Ninja Creami Ice Cream Maker for Mother's Day, and was so excited to start making recipes! After polling the kids, we landed on a Cherry Cheesecake Ice Cream (recipe coming soon...just need to try it one more time!) and a Lime Sherbet. I thought the cheesecake ice cream would be the obvious winner but the kids went crazy over the Lime Sherbet.

It's a delicious combination of sweet and tart, and a delicious lime flavor without artificial colors or artificial flavors!

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Easy - you just stir it all together, freeze it, and let the Creami do the work!
  • Fresh - with fresh lime zest and lime juice, it is super fresh tasting!
  • Delicious - this sherbet is bursting with lime flavor and is the perfect treat for a warm day!

Ingredients

Ingredients in Ninja Creami Lime Sherbet on a gray background.

Half and Half - this makes the sherbet creamy and rich.

Sweetened Condensed Milk - this makes it creamy and sweetens the sherbet.

Limes - I use the zest and juice in this recipe.

Sugar - for added sweetener.
Please refer to the recipe card for the complete list of ingredients.

Variations

Different Type of Citrus - we love the flavor of lime but you could make this with lemon zest and lemon juice, orange zest and orange juice, or grapefruit zest and grapefruit juice instead!

Different Type of Milk - if you want to make this a little bit lighter, you can use whole milk, 2% milk instead of half-and-half, but I would not go any lower in fat content than that, like 1% or skim milk.

Toppings - you could top this sherbet with maraschino cherries, sprinkles, or crushed graham crackers.

Lime Sherbet Punch - if you'd like to make this into a drink, you could add a scoop to ginger ale or lemon-lime soda!

Make it Green - if you really want your lime sherbet to be green, you can add a couple of drops of green food coloring to the mixture prior to freezing.

Step by Step Instructions

Photo 1. Add all of the ingredients to a bowl and whisk well to combine.

Photo 2. Pour into the Creami pint container and cover with provided lid. Freeze for 24 hours.

Photo 3. Once frozen, follow the Creami instructions to attach the pint into the ice cream machine. Use the Ice Cream button and allow the cycle to complete.

Photo 4. If it is not fully creamy, re-insert and press the Re-Spin cycle. Serve and enjoy!

Expert Tips

Storage - I like to store the leftovers (if we ever have any!) in the pint container that comes with the Ninja Creami. Really any airtight container will do. When enjoying leftovers, let it sit out at room temperature for about 10 minutes and you can run it through the Re-Spin cycle, if you'd like to get it super creamy again.

Toppings - this lime sherbet is delicious as is, but would also be great topped with some crushed up graham crackers, sprinkles, white chocolate chips, or some slivered almonds.

Ice Cream Maker Instructions - if you have an ice cream maker like this that churns, you can definitely make this in there too! Just make sure the drum is chilled and churn until frozen.

Recipe FAQs

What is a Ninja Creami?

The Ninja Creami is an ice cream maker that transforms frozen bases into frozen treats such as ice cream, sorbet, slushies, gelato, and milkshakes.

What is the difference between sherbet and sorbet?

Sorbet does not have any dairy in it, while sherbet typically has a lower-fat type of milk.

Why is this lime sherbet not green?

This recipe does not use anything artificial like food dye or Jell-O mix, so it is just a very slight green color from the lime zest.
