Green Goddess Chicken Salad
Green Goddess Chicken Salad is a fresh and herby chicken salad recipe made with dill, basil, and parsley! This easy chicken salad recipe is perfect to make for lunch or a light dinner and is great for meal prep.
I love a good chicken salad or tuna salad (my Cottage Cheese Tuna Salad has been my go-to for weeks!) and I wanted to make a chicken salad recipe using a bunch of herbs from my garden. Since Green Goddess Dressing uses a ton of fresh herbs, I figured combining the dressing with chicken salad would be a fun option.
This Green Goddess Chicken Salad recipe turned out so great and I couldn't wait to have it for lunch every day. While I had it on a sandwich and on top of a salad, my favorite way to enjoy it was in a wrap with some lettuce, sprouts, and tomatoes.

Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Easy - using rotisserie chicken, this recipe is so easy to whip up!
- Fresh - there is so much fresh flavor from the herbs in this chicken salad.
- Meal Prep - this recipe is great to make ahead of time and have for lunches throughout the week.
Ingredients
Rotisserie Chicken - I love using the pre-shredded rotisserie chicken from Target, but you could cook chicken breast and shred it or shred a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store.
Mayonnaise - this adds creaminess to the chicken salad.
Greek Yogurt - I use part mayo and part plain Greek yogurt because I don't love when chicken salad is super greasy and Greek yogurt adds some extra protein.
Herbs - I use fresh herbs including dill, basil, and parsley.
Shallot - shallot adds a mild onion and garlic flavor.
Celery - I love chopped celery in chicken salad and the crunch that it adds.
Lemon Juice - some acidity to round out the Greek Goddess dressing.
Vinegar - a slash of vinegar also helps thin out the dressing and give it a little tang.
Salt and Black Pepper - to bring out all of the flavors.
Refer to the recipe card for the complete list of ingredients.
Variations
Add Avocado - you can top your chicken salad with sliced avocado or add it to the dressing. I don't prefer adding it to the dressing because avocado doesn't hold up well as leftovers, but if you are going to eat it all at once, it would be a great addition!
Add Vegetables - make it a veggie-packed chicken salad by adding some diced cucumber, peppers, diced green onion, or thinly sliced red onion.
Different Herbs - while I used fresh dill, fresh basil, and fresh parsley, you could use other herbs too! I think chives, tarragon, cilantro, and even mint would be super fun and fresh.
Add Nuts - some people love nuts in their chicken salad and I think this greek goddess chicken salad would be delicious with some slivered almonds or chopped walnuts or pecans.
Step by Step Instructions

Recipe FAQs
Green Goddess dressing is a creamy dressing or dip that is green in color from the fresh herbs that are in it. It tastes creamy, herby, and fresh.
I like to buy the pre-shredded rotisserie chicken from Target, but you can buy a whole rotisserie chicken and shred it yourself. You could also buy boneless skinless chicken breasts, tenderloins, or thighs, cook them and then shred that meat.
