12 Freezer Soups (for Instant Pot and Slow Cooker!)

When it comes to weeknight meals, freezer meals are my secret weapon. Every year I make a big batch of freezer meals with my sister-in-law, and they are serious lifesavers. It feels so good to put in a bunch of work one day, and reap all of the benefits on busy days. All of these freezer soups can be prepped ahead of time, and cooked when you’re ready to make them.

All of these freezer meal recipes are soup recipes, which obviously are perfect for fall and winter. Colder months are just begging for comfort food! Each individual recipe does not have instructions for being a freezer meal, so I’ve included instructions in this post for you. You can choose a few (or all of them!) to make at one time, or you can choose one and just make a double batch – one for now and one to freeze for later! Freezer Meal Soups are all very easy to put together – they are all basically dump and set it recipes. I’ve also included instructions on how to make these in the Instant Pot or slow cooker.

Products for Making Freezer Soups

Before we get to the recipes, here are my top 5 tools for making freezer soups.

Crock Pot Slow Cooker – I keep my slow cooker super basic – no need for a fancy one!

Instant Pot – I use mine all. the. time. If you don’t have one yet, it will make cooking these soups so fast and easy!

Meat Chopper – this is a new-to-me tool and I can’t believe I’ve gone so long without it. It makes cooking ground meat SO much easier!

Freezer Bags – these are a must have for making freezer meals! I always buy the ones that have the slider, as it ensures a tight seal.

Freezer Bag Holder Stand – these make prepping a bunch of freezer meals so much easier. No more spills!

Chicken Bouillon – I use these instead of adding all of the broth to these soup recipes to cut down on possible spills and bulk in my freezer. Simply add the appropriate number of bouillon cubes to the freezer bag and write on the freezer bag how much water to add when cooking.

Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Freezer Meal Instructions: Brown the turkey on the stovetop. Add cooked turkey with remaining ingredients to freezer bag and freeze. Thaw overnight in refrigerator prior to cooking.

Slow Cooker Instructions: Once thawed, add to slow cooker and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours.

Instant Pot Instructions: Once thawed, cook in Instant Pot for 20 minutes on HIGH.

Freezer Meal Instructions: Place all ingredients in freezer bag and freeze. Thaw overnight in refrigerator prior to cooking. I use bouillon cubes instead of broth when freezing this recipe. Simply add the appropriate number of bouillon cubes to the freezer bag and write on the freezer bag how much water to add when cooking

Slow Cooker Instructions: Place contents of freezer bag in slow cooker. Cook on low for 3 hours or low for 6 hours.

Instant Pot Instructions: Place contents of freezer bag in Instant Pot. Cook on HIGH for 6 minutes. Let pressure naturally release for 5 minutes and then release completely.

Tortellini Meatball Soup

Freezer Meal Instructions: Place all ingredients except tortellini in a freezer bag. Place tortellini in a separate freezer bag. I like to tape them together in my freezer so they don’t get separated. Place in freezer. Thaw overnight in refrigerator prior to cooking. I use bouillon cubes instead of broth when freezing this recipe. Simply add the appropriate number of bouillon cubes to the freezer bag and write on the freezer bag how much water to add when cooking.

Slow cooker Instructions: Place soup ingredients (everything except tortellini) in slow cooker. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours. Add tortellini for last 30 minutes.

Instant Pot Instructions: Place soup ingredients (everything except tortellini) in Instant Pot. Cook on HIGH for 10 minutes. Let pressure naturally release for 5 minutes and then release completely. Turn Instant Pot to brown/saute function and add tortellini. Cook for 5 minutes, or until tortellini is cooked.

Freezer Meal Instructions: Place all ingredients in freezer bag and freeze. Thaw in refrigerator overnight prior to cooking. I use bouillon cubes instead of broth when freezing this recipe. Simply add the appropriate number of bouillon cubes to the freezer bag and write on the freezer bag how much water to add when cooking.

Slow Cooker Instructions: Place all contents of freezer bag in slow cooker. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours. Shred the chicken.

Instant Pot Instructions: Place all contents of freezer bag in slow cooker. Cook on HIGH pressure for 20 minutes. Let pressure naturally release for 10 minutes and then release completely. Shred the chicken.

Freezer Meal Instructions: Place all ingredients in freezer bag and freeze. Thaw in refrigerator overnight prior to cooking. I use bouillon cubes instead of broth when freezing this recipe. Simply add the appropriate number of bouillon cubes to the freezer bag and write on the freezer bag how much water to add when cooking.

Slow Cooker Instructions: Add all ingredients to slow cooker. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-7 hours. Shred chicken.

Instant Pot Instructions: Add all ingredients in Instant Pot. Cook on high for 20 minutes. Let pressure naturally release for 10 minutes and then release completely. Shred chicken.

Vegetarian White Chili

Freezer Meal Instructions: Place all ingredients except sour cream and cheese into freezer bag. Thaw overnight in refrigerator prior to cooking. I use bouillon cubes instead of broth when freezing this recipe. Simply add the appropriate number of bouillon cubes to the freezer bag and write on the freezer bag how much water to add when cooking.

Slow Cooker Instructions: Add contents of freezer bag to slow cooker. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours. Transfer 1 cup of broth to a bowl with the sour cream and stir until well combined. Return the broth/cream mixture to slow cooker and stir to combine. Stir in cheese.

Instant Pot Instructions: Add contents of freezer bag to Instant Pot. Cook on HIGH for 5 minutes. Let pressure naturally release for 5 minutes and then release completely. Transfer 1 cup of broth to a bowl with the sour cream and stir until well combined. Return the broth/cream mixture to Instant Pot and stir to combine. Stir in cheese.

Coconut Curry Chicken Noodle Soup

Freezer Meal Instructions: Place all ingredients except broccoli and noodles to a freezer bag. Place the broccoli in a separate freezer bag. I like to tape them together so they don’t get separated in the freezer. Keep a package of rice noodles in your pantry for when you decide to cook this. Thaw in refrigerator overnight prior to cooking. I use bouillon cubes instead of broth when freezing this recipe. Simply add the appropriate number of bouillon cubes to the freezer bag and write on the freezer bag how much water to add when cooking.

Slow Cooker Instructions: Place all ingredients except broccoli and noodles to slow cooker. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-7 hours. Shred the chicken. Add the broccoli and noodles and cook on high another 20-30 minutes, until broccoli is tender and noodles are cooked.

Instant Pot Instructions: Place all ingredients except broccoli and noodles to Instant Pot. Cook on HIGH for 15 minutes. Shred the chicken. Turn Instant Pot to brown/saute function and add broccoli and noodles. Cook for 5 minutes, until broccoli is tender and noodles are cooked.

Freezer Meal Instructions: Place all ingredients except peas in freezer bag and freeze. Thaw in refrigerator overnight prior to cooking. I use bouillon cubes instead of broth when freezing this recipe. Simply add the appropriate number of bouillon cubes to the freezer bag and write on the freezer bag how much water to add when cooking.

Slow Cooker Instructions: Note: you can skip the step of browning the meat. Place all ingredients in freezer bag into slow cooker. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours. Add peas for last 30 minutes.

Instant Pot Instructions: Note: you can skip the step of browning the meat. Place all ingredients in freezer bag in Instant Pot. Cook on HIGH for 15 minutes. Let pressure naturally release for 10 minutes and then release completely. Turn on brown/saute function and add peas, cooking for 4-5 minutes, until peas are warmed through.

Chicken Enchilada Chili

Freezer Meal Instructions: Place all ingredients except cream cheese and, cheese, and toppings in freezer bag and freeze. You can place cream cheese and cheese in separate freezer bags and tape the bags together so they don’t get separated in the freezer. Alternately, you can just buy the cream cheese and shredded cheese when you’re ready to cook the soup. Thaw in refrigerator overnight prior to cooking. I use bouillon cubes instead of broth when freezing this recipe. Simply add the appropriate number of bouillon cubes to the freezer bag and write on the freezer bag how much water to add when cooking.

Slow Cooker Instructions: Add contents of freezer bag in slow cooker. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours. Shred chicken. Combine 1 cup of broth with cream cheese in a separate bowl and stir to combine. Pour this mixture into slow cooker and mix well, along with shredded cheese.

Instant Pot Instructions: Add contents of freezer bag to Instant Pot. Cook on HIGH for 10 minutes. Let pressure naturally release for 10 minutes and then release completely. Shred chicken. Combine 1 cup of broth with cream cheese in a separate bowl and stir to combine. Pour this mixture into slow cooker and mix well, along with shredded cheese.

Roasted Red Pepper Lentil Soup

Freezer Meal Instructions: Place all ingredients except spinach in freezer bag and freeze. Thaw in refrigerator overnight prior to cooking. I use bouillon cubes instead of broth when freezing this recipe. Simply add the appropriate number of bouillon cubes to the freezer bag and write on the freezer bag how much water to add when cooking.

Slow Cooker Instructions: Note: you can skip the saute part of this recipe. Add all contents of freezer bag to slow cooker. Cook on low for 3 hours or high for 6 hours. Stir in spinach until wilted.

Instant Pot Instructions: Note: you can skip the saute part of this recipe. Add all contents of freezer bag to Instant Pot. Cook on HIGH for 5 minutes. Stir in spinach until wilted.

White Chicken Chili

Freezer Meal Instructions: Place all ingredients except Greek yogurt, shredded cheese, and toppings in freezer bag. Freeze. Thaw in refrigerator overnight prior to cooking. I use bouillon cubes instead of broth when freezing this recipe. Simply add the appropriate number of bouillon cubes to the freezer bag and write on the freezer bag how much water to add when cooking.

Slow Cooker Instructions: Place all contents of freezer bag in slow cooker. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours. Shred chicken. Transfer 1 cup of the broth to a bowl and stir in the Greek yogurt until smooth. Pour broth/yogurt mixture back into the Instant Pot, stirring well. Add the cheese and stir until melted.

Instant Pot Instructions: Place all contents of freezer bag into Instant Pot. Cook on HIGH for 20 minutes. Let the pressure naturally release for 10 minutes and then release completely. Shred chicken. Transfer 1 cup of the broth to a bowl and stir in the Greek yogurt until smooth. Pour broth/yogurt mixture back into the Instant Pot, stirring well. Add the cheese and stir until melted.

Freezer Meal Instructions: Place all ingredients in freezer bag. Freeze completely. Thaw in refrigerator overnight prior to cooking. I use bouillon cubes instead of broth when freezing this recipe. Simply add the appropriate number of bouillon cubes to the freezer bag and write on the freezer bag how much water to add when cooking.

Slow Cooker Instructions: Place all contents of freezer bag in slow cooker. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours. Shred the chicken and serve.

Instant Pot Instructions: Place all contents of freezer bag in Instant Pot. Cook on HIGH for 15 minutes. Let pressure naturally release for 10 minutes and then release completely. Shred the chicken and serve.
