Whipped Feta Dip is an easy but impressive appetizer that everyone will love! The whipped feta takes 20 minutes to make and has crumbled feta cheese, sour cream, olive oil, honey, lemon juice and zest, and salt, and is topped with a honey and red pepper flake drizzle. It’s the perfect combination of tangy, sweet, and spicy!
I love a good appetizer and I love them even more when they’re easy! I always prefer recipes that can be made in advance and don’t require a lot of last-minute preparation. I mean, who wants to do a ton of work during happy hour? Reduce your stress and enjoy your cocktail and your appetizer, too! Whipped Feta Dip with Hot Honey is one of those appetizer recipes that can be entirely prepped in advance and is always a huge hit at parties and potlucks.
I think feta really works best in this dip, however goat cheese would be a good substitute.
Yes! The whipped feta and hot honey can both be prepped in advance. I would just assemble it with the hot honey on top immediately before serving.
This whipped feta dip recipe will last in the refrigerator for 5-7 days an airtight container. If possible, top with the hot honey mixture immediately before serving.
Yes, this is a cold appetizer.
As mentioned earlier, this is such an easy dip to make! To start, you’ll need a food processor or a blender.
Add ingredients to food processor or blender. Add all of the ingredients – feta cheese, sour cream, olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, honey, and salt – to the food processor or blender and puree. It’s okay if it’s not completely smooth. I find that in my food processor there are still small lumps compared to in my blender it gets completely smooth. Either way is delicious!
Make the hot honey. To make the hot honey, add the honey and red chili flakes to a small pot and let simmer for 3-4 minutes. This is just to infuse the heat from the chili flakes into the honey.
Serve. To serve, transfer the whipped feta dip into a bowl and then drizzle with the hot honey. Top with chopped chives and some freshly cracked pepper and serve!
This feta dip is delicious served with pita chips, toasted crostini, crackers, or fresh veggies.
