Strawberry Dump Cake is the perfect spring and summer dessert using only 3 ingredients – fresh strawberries, butter, and cake mix! It is so delicious served warm, topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. This is a must-make strawberry dessert!
Something about warmer weather makes me want a special little dessert every night. Particularly, fruit desserts! Usually in the summer we have popsicles or ice cream, but I like making some nights extra delicious with a fruit crisp or cobbler along with ice cream. This Strawberry Dump Cake is such an easy and delicious way to enjoy strawberries for dessert, and it only requires three ingredients! Well, four if you count the ice cream that is required on top!
As mentioned, this recipe only has THREE very simple ingredients!
This recipe is so unbelievably simple to make. First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9″ baking dish. Next, hull the strawberries and then slice them. I like leaving them in bigger slices, but you can dice them into smaller chunks if you prefer.
Spread the strawberries out in the baking dish. In a bowl, mix together the cake mix and melted butter until it’s a crumbly mixture. Sprinkle the cake mix and butter combination over the strawberries. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes. It should be slightly golden and bubbly.
I like to serve this dessert immediately when it’s warm, topped with ice cream. Whipped cream is also delicious!
I have not tried making this dessert with other fruits, but I have a feeling other berries would work well, like blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries. Peaches and nectarines would be delicious, too. I definitely plan on trying these variations later this spring and summer!
Absolutely! This dessert is delicious warm OR cold. I do prefer it warm, but we have still enjoyed it cold. d
Leftover strawberry dump cake should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and should be fine for 3-5 days.
