Pepperoni Pizza Rolls
Pepperoni Pizza Rolls are a super easy appetizer, snack, or dinner, made with refrigerated pizza dough, pizza sauce, pepperoni, shredded Italian cheese, and all of your favorite pizza toppings! We added mushrooms but bell peppers, olives, onion, and sausage would all be delicious.
Friday's at our house mean one thing: pizza night! In the warmer months we love using our Ooni Pizza Oven for patio pizza night, and in the winter we typically get takeout pizza. With these Pepperoni Pizza Rolls, we now have another option for pizza night!
These pizza rolls are a super fun twist on pizza, are super easy to make, and can be adapted to have all of your personal favorite toppings in them! This time I added pepperoni and mushrooms, but be sure to keep reading to see other ingredients I recommend.
Ingredients in Pepperoni Pizza Rolls
- Refrigerated Pizza Dough - Using refrigerated pizza dough makes this recipe super easy, but if you have a favorite homemade pizza dough you'd prefer to use, go for it!
- Pizza Sauce
- Italian Cheese - this is a blend of mozzarella, parmesan, and provolone and it works great in these pizza rolls.
- Pepperoni - we love pepperoni from our local grocery store - it has so much better flavor than the big brands! You could also substitute cooked Italian sausage or just omit the meat.
- Butter
- Garlic Powder
- Dried Oregano
- Your favorite pizza toppings! I also added mushrooms to ours but black olives, green peppers, red onion, Italian sausage, etc would all be delicious.
How to Make Pepperoni Pizza Rolls
As mentioned, these pizza rolls are a breeze to make and require minimal ingredients. The recipe starts by preheating your oven to 400 degrees. Next, unroll a refrigerated pizza crust. I used a local brand that my grocery store sells, but I know Pillsbury also has a refrigerated pizza crust that would work well. You could also use your favorite homemade pizza dough if you prefer to be a little extra!
Next, spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on top of the pizza dough and then top with pepperoni, mushrooms, and cheese. As mentioned, you can really use whatever your favorite pizza toppings are. If you prefer sausage, onions, and olives, go for it!
Now, roll the rectangle up from the long side until it is the shape of a log. From this point, you'll want to use a serrated knife to cut the log in half and then cut each half into four rolls. Place the rolls in a greased cast iron skillet or 8" baking dish. The last component is a garlic butter sauce that you slather all over the rolls. YES please! Combine the melted butter, garlic powder, and oregano, and use a brush to cover the rolls in the butter. Bake the pepperoni pizza rolls in the preheated oven for 25-28 minutes. The rolls should be golden and the cheese should be melted and gooey!
Serve with more pizza sauce, and ENJOY!
How to Serve Pepperoni Pizza Rolls
These rolls are great for lunch or dinner served with a fresh greens salad or some roasted vegetables. They also make a great appetizer, game day snack, or afternoon snack for kiddos.
Recipe Variations
This recipe is really adaptable to personal preferences, and you can use any pizza toppings you like. The trick is to not overdo it on the fillings! I think some other great ideas for pizza topping fillings would be hot or mild Italian sausage, hamburger, olives, green peppers, red onion, fresh basil, caramelized onions, different types of cheese, and salami.
