  • Crowd Pleaser - everyone loves these noodles!

Ingredients

Ground Beef - ground beef is the main protein in this ramen noodle recipe.

Broccoli Slaw - I love adding broccoli slaw to recipes, especially noodles, because it adds nutrition and no one notices!

Instant Ramen Noodles - you only use the noodles in the recipe. Just discard the seasoning packet.

Soy Sauce - this adds a savory flavor. I typically use low-sodium soy sauce.

Garlic and Ginger - both fresh, they add delicious flavor to the noodles.

Sesame Oil - I love the flavor of sesame oil in Asian recipes.

Honey - this adds a bit of sweetness to the noodles and balances out the soy sauce.

Green Onions - not pictured, but I LOVE topping these ramen noodles with sliced green onions!

Variations

Different Meat - I used ground beef but ground turkey, ground pork, or ground chicken would also work.

Different Sweetener - I use honey in the sauce, but brown sugar would also work well.

Different Vegetables - I love broccoli slaw but you could use regular coleslaw mix or finely chop some veggies like carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower too. Red bell Peppers, mushrooms, and snow peas would be delicious as well.

Add some Spice - if you like things on the spicier side, you can add red pepper flakes, chili crunch, or Sriracha sauce.

Step by Step Instructions

Photo 1. In a small to medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and honey. Set aside.

Photo 2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up into smaller chunks as it cooks.

Photo 3. Add the broccoli slaw to the beef mixture, mix well, and cook another 4-5 minutes, until slightly softened.

Photo 4. Add the savory sauce, mixing well to combine, and then stir in the water.

Photo 5. Add the ramen noodles, tucking it into the liquid as much as possible. Don't worry if it isn't covered!

Photo 6. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10-12 minutes, stirring every few minutes, and flipping the ramen noodles as needed.

Expert Tips

Storage - store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days.

Prep Ahead - if you want to save yourself some time, you can prep the sauce mixture ahead of time.

Toss the Seasoning Packet - I don't use the seasoning that comes with the noodles, as it would make these noodles way too salty.

Recipe FAQs

What can I add to ramen noodles?

Ramen is so versatile! I like making these noodles with the homemade sauce instead of the seasoning packet, so I know what ingredients are going into it.

Are ramen noodles spicy?

Only if you add spice to them. I recommend adding some chili crunch or Sriracha sauce if you want to add a little heat to this recipe.
