Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Easy and Quick to Make - this recipe comes together in less than 15 minutes!
  • Great for a Gathering - berry yogurt salad is perfect as a fun side dish or lighter dessert when serving a crowd.
  • Kids Love It - with yogurt and whipped topping, how could they not?!

Key Ingredients

Berries - you can really use any type of berries that you like, but I love using a combination of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.

Whipped Topping - Cool whip is one of my favorite shortcuts for making fluffy desserts.

Substitutions and Variations

Different Fruit - Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries all work well in this recipe. Grapes, mandarin oranges, peaches, or chopped apples are all great options.

Homemade Whipped Cream - instead of Cool Whip, you could make your own whipped cream. Simply beat 1 ½ cups of heavy whipping cream with 3 tablespoon of powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.

Different Yogurt - I like using vanilla yogurt but you could use plain or even berry flavored yogurt.

How to Make Berry Yogurt Salad

This fruit salad recipe is so easy to make. To start, prep your fruit. Cut the stems off of the strawberries and then slice. Wash the blueberries and raspberries.

Next, in a large bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt and the pudding mix. When I tried doing this with a spoon the mixture was pretty lumpy, so I switched to a hand mixer and it worked much better. It's okay if there are some lumps! Next fold in the Cool Whip. Definitely do this with a spatula so it stays fluffy.

Lastly, fold in the berries. Raspberries are pretty delicate so carefully fold them in. That's it! Either serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until you're ready to serve it.

Expert Tips

Serving Suggestions - This salad with berries and yogurt is perfect for the summertime, in my opinion. I first made it to bring on a picnic we were having with my Tuna Pasta Salad between the boys soccer games, to serve as a side dish and a dessert all in one.

Use Dry Berries - After washing your berries, make sure they're completely dry before mixing them into the salad. Extra moisture can make the yogurt mixture watery.

Storage - Store leftover berry yogurt salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Stir gently before serving.

Fold Gently - Stir the berries into the yogurt mixture carefully to keep them intact and prevent the salad from turning pink or mushy.

Make Ahead - You can prepare this salad a few hours in advance, making it perfect for potlucks, brunches, and holiday gatherings.

Berry Yogurt Salad

Berry Yogurt Salad Recipe FAQs

Can I use frozen berries in Berry Yogurt Salad?

Fresh berries are best for this recipe. Frozen berries tend to release too much liquid when thawed, which can make the salad watery.

What yogurt is best for berry yogurt salad?

I use Vanilla Greek yogurt because it adds extra sweetness and flavor, but plain Greek yogurt can also be used if you prefer a tangier flavor and extra protein.

Can I make this berry yogurt salad ahead of time?

Yes! This berry yogurt salad can be made several hours ahead of serving. For the freshest texture, I recommend serving it the same day, as the berries will continue to release juices as it sits.

    1. Yes, that will work but it won't be quite as sweet. You could add some extra sweetener, if you'd like.
