Soren Miles: 2 Years!

Well, it's been a year and a half since the last Soren update, so I figured it was time for another. Ha! Truth is, the updates kind of slid off my radar and I honestly didn't think about writing one for, apparently, 18 months.

However, having these updates is not only fun to share with you guys, but they're also nice for me to look back on. There are so many details about my boys that sometimes get lost in memory that I wish I could just bottle up forever.

It's really hard to believe that my baby is 2 years old today! It's SO cliche to say, but the time really does feel like it goes by faster with the second child.

So here's what is going on with Soren! For one, Soren's personality is just hilarious. He's happy, sassy, super chatty, sociable, often dramatic when he doesn't get what he wants, and very lovey and cuddly. He loves talking to pretty much anybody, and goes up to random people at the YMCA and store to talk to them or even just give them a hug. Luckily, most people are pretty happy when a toddler engages with them.

On the other hand, he's incredibly dramatic. When he doesn't get what he wants, he has a throw-him-self-on-ground-tantrum. Except he doesn't throw himself on the ground. He gently puts himself on the ground, and THEN has his tantrum. And if he's super sad, he gets into "child's pose" on the ground and cries. The funny thing is, when he has his tantrums, he'll stop after about 30 seconds and look to make sure you're watching him. It's pretty entertaining.

Over the last couple of months, Soren's verbal skills have really exploded. He is saying so many words and will repeat most words back to us if we ask him to. One of my favorite words to hear him say, which he says often, is "Lars". In fact, he pretty much asks for Lars the second he gets up.

That brings me to the fact that Soren is basically obsessed with Lars. He LOVES being around his big brother and even though they fight over toys, couch space, basically anything, I can already tell how much they love each other. The other day Lars was playing at the neighbors house and I took Soren to the store with me and Soren kept asking for Lars (he pronounces it "Yars") and eventually after I told him 10 times that he wasn't coming with, Soren got huge tears in his eyes and the biggest pouty lip. Sad, but cute...ha!

As far as things Soren loves to do, he loves playing with LEGOs, Magna-Tiles, all of his brother's toys, he loves coloring and doing art projects, he gets so excited to go to preschool the two days a week that he goes, the park, and being outside. He is our little climber, and is much more daring than Lars ever was, which makes going to the park, or even standing by the fence talking to our neighbor, eventful because he tries to climb EVERYTHING. I predict now that he will get stitches or break a bone before Lars does. He's a wild man!

With sleeping, Soren has REALLY made leaps and bounds of improvement since his 6 month update - thank God! He was a pretty bad sleeper for the first 9-ish months but since then he's been great. Right now he sleeps from 7 p.m. -6:30/7 a.m. and naps from 1-4/4:30. Even during the loudest of construction that has been happening for our kitchen renovation, he's been napping through it all.

Overall, Soren is such a light in our lives and I'm not sure how I got so lucky with another amazing son. He brings us so much joy and I can't wait to see how much he grows and develops in the next year! Hopefully I'll get around to posting another update of him before he turns 3 🙂

  1. ahhhh Soren! What a cutie!!! Love this update (also so jealous of his sleep. James was such a good sleeper but has been giving me all kinds of problems off and on with waking up early and shorter naps since he hit 18 months. Blech.)
