Baby E Update: 30 Weeks

30 Weeks Pregnancy Update

How far along are you? 30 weeks.  Holy moly.

Cravings:  I wouldn't call any of these cravings, per say, but I have been eating a lot of citrus and fruit in general, smoothies, Sun Chips (an entire bag in two days...), popsicles, and ice cream.

Food Aversions:  Still nothing.

Generally Feeling:  This is a tough one to answer.  Pregnancy wise, I feel great.  However, Marc and I both caught a nasty bug this week which knocked me out pretty good for a day and I'm still feeling the lingering symptoms like cough, sore throat, stuffy/runny nose, and getting tired easily.

But yeah, pregnancy wise, I have no complaints.  I did have a funny realization the other day, though.  The PT clinic that I work at has a lot of mirrors, so I'm constantly catching glimpses of my belly.  It's gotten pretty big (I think, at least) the past couple of weeks and I guess I thought once I got this big I would "feel" bigger too.  Like, I thought I would feel the weight of my belly a lot more than I do, but really I feel like I always have, so it's surprising when I do catch those glimpses of my big belly.  Am I making any sense?

Exercise wise, I haven't done as much this week since I was sick, but typically I'm still regularly doing prenatal yoga, barre classes, running 3-5 miles at a time, spinning, and Body Pump.

One thing that has crept in the past week is difficulty sleeping.  I've been waking up around 3 or 4 in the morning and having a hard time getting back to sleep, which is annoying to say the least.

Looking Forward To:  We have some showers coming up!  Next weekend we are heading to Iowa for a baby shower hosted by a couple of my aunts (see adorable invite here) and then a couple of weeks after that our friends are hosting us a couples shower, complete with a home brew made by Marc and one of the hosts.  We are so grateful for the amazing friends and family that we have who love us and want to celebrate our growing family!

Miss Anything:  Wardrobe options.  Since it's getting warmer out, I'm missing the options to wear my cute spring capris but am resisting buying many new clothes because, hello! I only have two months left.

Movement:  Lots and lots.  It's the best.

What I’ve Been Loving:  We started our birthing class two weeks ago which has been fun.  We are taking a Natural Birthing Class which prepares pregnant women and their birthing partner for giving birth without medication/medical intervention.  We are giving birth in a hospital (but have yet to do our tour yet...it's coming up in a couple of weeks), I am really hoping I can labor and give birth without an epidural or any other medication to induce birth.  However, I am completely aware of all the circumstances and complications that can arise, especially with first time moms, and am keeping an open mind about it.  My hope is this class will prepare us mentally for the pain and overall difficulty that giving birth encompasses, and that we can get through it if most other things go well.

Maternity Clothes:  Yep.  However, I can still get away with wearing some of my non-maternity shirts that were always a bit loose, which is surprising and awesome at the same time.  I also bought these pants from LOFT that I absolutely love because 1) they are non-maternity so I can wear them forever and ever, and 2) they have an elastic waist band = they are SO comfy.

Boy or girl:  Boy!

  1. It's sooo wonderful how great you've been feeling (except for getting sick!)

and yay showers! have oodles of fun!

  2. Your belly really is starting to pop and it is so cute! I'm sorry that you caught a bug but other than that (and the sleep troubles) it sounds like you're doing really good. I hope you feel better soon and have fun letting everyone "shower" you with love! 🙂

  3. I can't believe your 30 weeks already!! Holy cow. You look fantastic!

And yay for upcoming showers and all that fun stuff! So much to look forward to! Hope you are both feeling better!!

  4. Look how cute you are! I have given birth in a hospital three times (coming up on number four!) without any interventions, epidural, IV whatsoever. I think the hospital you're at makes a big difference (mine is very supportive and hands-off) but there's lots you can do to prepare yourself as well! If you have any questions send them my way, I'd be happy to share any wisdom I might have.

    1. Aw thanks Lindsay! We have our tour of the Mother Baby Center tomorrow, so I am prepared to ask a lot of questions about how they handle things. If I still have questions, I'll definitely pick your experienced brain 🙂

    1. This is exactly what I need to be reading right now! I should definitely be thinking about our hospital bag and getting it together - it won't be too long now! Thanks Bridget 🙂
