Birthday Cake Rice Krispie Treats

- 7 tablespoon salted butter
- 10 ounces marshmallows
- ⅔ cup funfetti cake mix
- 6 ½ cups Rice Krispie cereal
- 1 ½ cups mini marshmallows
- ¼ cup sprinkles
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the marshmallows and stir until melted.
Remove from heat and add the cake mix, mixing to combine.
Stir in the rice krispies until combined.
Fold in the additional marshmallows.
Spread into a greased 9x13" baking dish and then top with sprinkles.
Let cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares.Enjoy!
Storage - store in an airtight container or cover the pan tightly with plastic wrap and store at room temperature for 3-4 days.
Microwave Version - you can make these in the microwave if you don't want to do it on the stovetop. To do this, add the butter and marshmallows to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove from the microwave and stir. Microwave again for 30 seconds and stir. At this point they should be mostly melted. You want them just melted, not overcooked so if they are not melted at this point, microwave in 15 second intervals to get them completely melted. Then stir in the cake batter mix and Rice Krispies and follow recipe instructions.
