Big Mac Tater Tot Casserole

A tater tot casserole version of the Big Mac sandwich!

Ingredients

Big Mac Sauce

  • 1 ¼ cups mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup diced pickles or dill pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon minced onion
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Casserole

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 white onion diced
  • 32 ounce bag tater tots
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1 Roma tomato diced

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and grease a 9x13" baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Make the Big Mac sauce by combining all Big Mac sauce ingredients in a medium bowl and stirring until well combined. Set aside.
  • In a large skillet, add the ground beef and onion. Cook over medium-high heat, breaking up the ground beef as it cooks, for about 10 minutes, or until the ground beef is browned and the onion is softened.
  • Add 1 cup of the Big Mac sauce to the ground beef mixture and stir to combine.
  • Place the ground beef mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • Top with American cheese slices.
  • Top the cheese with tater tots.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes. The casserole should be hot throughout and the tots should be golden brown.
  • Serve sprinkled with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and additional Big Mac sauce. Enjoy!

Notes

Leftovers - store leftover big Mac casserole in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Reheat - you can simply reheat this in the microwave or you can put it in an oven-safe dish and reheat in the oven to get the tater tots crispy again. Bake at 400 for 10-ish minutes depending on how much you are reheating.
Prep Ahead - you can prep this casserole in advance. Simply assemble the casserole up until the step of baking. Cover with foil and refrigerate until ready to cook, up to one day in advance. Bake according to recipe instructions, adding 5-10 minutes on to account for the casserole starting from a cold temperature.
