Ingredients

  • 8 slices Texas toast bread or thick white bread
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter

Cinnamon Sugar

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
In a separate shallow bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
  • Dip four slices of bread in the milk/egg mixture (or as many as will fit in your skillet) and cook each slice of bread for 3-4 minutes on each side, until the French toast is golden brown on each side.
  • Immediately dip each piece of French toast in the cinnamon sugar mixture, coating each slice, and shaking off any excess.
  • Serve with maple syrup and berries.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

  • Be sure to only dip the bread in the egg and milk mixture for a couple of seconds to avoid it getting too soggy.
  • Low and slow is the best way to cook French toast, to ensure the middle of the bread is cooked. If you find your French toast is soggy, lower your cook top temperature.
